I grew up with a father who was an Ohio State alumnus, so I had little choice but to become a Buckeyes fan. One of my earliest memories is of wearing an Ohio State cheerleading outfit as a toddler and dancing around the family room while the game was on the television. Every fall, my family counts down the days until the season begins, and we get together every weekend at my parent’s house to watch the games. Thanks to the tv direct in Virginia my parents have, we catch most of the games and the game watching parties have become a long-standing tradition. We all have our lucky t-shirts, jerseys or sweatshirts and our own supposed good luck charms. Of course, we love the food and drink my mom and siblings pull together as well, but if you were to ask my dad, he would tell you the day is all about the football. After the game, we always head into the yard for a short family game of touch football as well. These game days have created a number of favorite memories of mine, and I enjoy watching the same happen for my children. It is great fun that Ohio State is such a contender these days, but we are devoted fans through the lean years too.
