One of the most flattering and easy to wear pieces of women’s clothing, tunic tops are especially a key part of any plus size fashion wardrobe because they fit so many body shapes. Dressed up or down, a tunic top is not only fashionable and versatile, but it’s also comfortable and simple to style.

We all have womanly lumps and bumps we want to conceal and that’s why tunic tops are perfect because their figure skimming design flatters women’s curves. If you fancy showing off your shape, add a waist-clinching belt to create a defined waist while still having the coverage of a tunic top. Whether you wear a tunic with jeans, trousers or leggings, you’ll find a style to suit your individual fashion sense, and the recent popularity of leggings has seen so many styles of tunics emerge.

Whatever your size or shape there are so many ways to wear tunic tops and here are our top tips on how you can wear tunics to suit any occasion.

In the workplace

A really nice alternative to a shirt or blouse in the office, a tunic gives a more feminine and fashionable look. A colourful tunic looks lovely with smart black boot cut or wide leg trousers, but don’t wear it with a pencil skirt, as it will pretty much hide the skirt. If you plan on wearing a jacket with a tunic make sure the jacket is longer so that it doesn’t stick out of the bottom.

For everyday wear

As tunics are so easy to wear and put together, many women love to wear them casually and they make a fantastic alternative to a t-shirt. Tunics are perfect to wear with leggings or jeggings because of their longer length, while most women wear them with skinny or slim leg jeans rather than baggier ones like boyfriend jeans. Take some tunics with you on holiday, they look pretty and keep you cool in the sun and also make useful cover ups instead of kaftans.

A night on the town

With so many different styles of tunics you’ll find that many are perfect for a girls’ night out or a special occasion. In gorgeous sheer materials with embellishments, jewels and studding, dressy tunic tops look glamorous with leggings, skinny jeans or wide leg trousers and a pair of killer heels. Some tunics also have really nice cut out designs down the side and back to reveal a little bit of skin. Finish off a tunic for a night out with some jewellery and a nice bag and you’re good to go.

It may be very uncomfortable to be covered fully when the temperature is rising high during summer. It becomes even more of a challenge when we leave home in sweltering heat and then move into an air conditioned work environment. Knowing how to dress for the summer heat and still remain comfortable has the potential to boost your personal image and maybe even move you up a notch or two.

You can choose your summer dresses like sheer tops, low necklines, bare legs, sleeveless tops, short skirts to make yourself very comfortable during summer. When choose our clothing we are also choosing an image to project. You can make yourself stay cool by wearing the light weight clothing and this will also not show your skin. Choose fabrics that are lightweight such as cotton and linen. For example wear a cotton jacket over a lightweight blouse or wear a sweater set. You will be covered underneath even after removing the jacket . Try to choose loose clothing like pants, skirts of light fabric materials and therefore the fabric will glide over tummy and hips. White is great summer dress but will show every bump and lump if worn too tightly.1

Evening dresses are of more attracted one both when you wear them and even while you buy them. To make yourself stand out from others during any party or occasions, you need to be very alert and patient in selecting your evening dresses. One thing that each and every one of us should understand however is that we don’t have the perfect body; in fact, nobody does. The dresses that you choose must be like highlighting your strength and it should hide your flaws because everyone has some flaw and strength in them. For that, you need to have a clear understanding of your body.

If you have petite body shape that is small stature, then you should avoid wearing evening dresses which are full or too long. You can choose the V- necks dresses and also dresses with empire waists to well suit the summer needs. On the other hand, if you have got an athletic body, flaunt it. Go strapless, and choose spandex or Lycra so that your body tone is accentuated. Finally, there are wrap dresses that you can wear with any body type.

Dress For Your body type, Spring 2009

Spring is a period to take out a few of the winter layers and enjoy your closet.Accentuate your good lines with an assortment of fits of skirts, tops, and wholesale dresses in a range of of colors and contours. I would give examples of smooth and modern ideas for assorted curved body types.

Hourglass – this body shape may almost  wear anything and look great in it due to the poised proportions. Pencil skirts are made for the hourglass figure, defining the dangerous curvatures in all of their glory. Skinny jeans and leggings likewise appear essential with this body type. Show off your figure in a Spring colored fitted sheath wholesale dress. Add zing and draw attention to your tinier waist by putting on a belt.

Pear Shaped (aka triangle) – this pretty body figure is a more attention-getting derriere and a leaner upper body and chest. An empire waist wholesale dress or an A-Line cut skirt/dress compliment fuller hips and produce balance. Choose a printed or light shaded top and a simple shaded bottom to highlight to your upper body to counter balance your lower half.  Look trendy in a maxi wholesale dress while downplaying hips.

Apple Shaped – this form carries more weight on the upper body/mid-section and is complimented with fashion trends which accentuate the lower body and/or styles that create a waist line. For example, a blazer with structure and form as well as a wrap dress may make a silhouette to produce a more attention-getting waist line. Also, you can select  which downplay the midsection and emphasize another part of your body you care about that can be your chest or legs. For example, you may want to dress the upper body in a darker hue to downplay or wear styles such as an empire waist top or dress which could hide a tummy. Also, try a tiered ruffle dress or blouse to look stylish while hiding a tummy.

Long Skirts

In these days long skirts looks elegant at any occasion it is worn to. It is an essential piece of clothing for anyone who dresses modestly. Before wearing a long skirt a few thoughts should be considered on your body shape. You will want to wear a long skirt that flatters your body type. Go to a couple of high street shops who sell long skirts and try out several different styles of long skirts. Experiment with teaming up with different styles of tops until you find a look that suits you and you are comfortable with. Here are a few ideas.

The long Full Skirt will suit a medium to tall height women. The fullness of this skirt can overwhelm a shorter or petite person. The long full skirts are popular in the summer months. Wear it with bold and chunky accessories and sandals to create a casual look. This style of skirt can come plain, printed or tiered.

The A-line Skirt will suit most figures. You can wear this type of skirt with a blouse and a matching short jacket for a smart look to work. Just add some heels to finish the look. Or wear it with a top or a short tunic and add a wide belt for a casual look. If you wear the skirt with a pattern on it or flowery then keep the top plain. This will stop you from overdoing it.

The Ruffled Skirt will suit you if you have a slim figure. If you are a bit on the large side, then avoid this style of skirt as it will only make you look larger. To wear this skirt successfully the key is to keep the rest of the outfit very simple, especially if it also has a print on it. Add some simple mules to finish this feminine look off.

The long skirts may seem like they aren’t in, but they are. There are ways to avoid making yourself look like you are devoid of all style. There aren’t just styles that are solid and lame, but ones that will match every shirt you have. Take the time to look around and see what is out there in regards to this style. They are sold in pretty much every clothing store across the country and there will never be a shortage of them. Go check thrift stores for real relics from the sixties if you want to keep it real.

Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Collections

ruffle blouse

Here are the Spring/Summer 2011 fashion collections by a few new designers..

Croatian born designer Vjera Vilicnik.

Vjera believes in quality over quantity which is displayed through the hand crafted embroidery of her collection. She perfected her skills of hand crafting at Ecole Lesage, the French school of haute couture embroidery.

The inspiration behind the collection is a girl becoming a woman. Dusty pinks are teamed with sophisticated black. Lines are simple allowing the hand stitched embellishments of feathers, beads and Swarovski crystals to transform the garments from ordinary to unique.

A plain white silk t-shirt reveals a cross over pattern of Swarovski crystal beads on organza at the back, whilst a conservative pink and black mini shirt dress shows a more adventurous side of feathers, ribbons and beads across the shoulder blades.

Her aim is to show that embroidery does not mean old fashioned and does not have to be heavy.

Central Saint Martin’s graduate Haizhen Wang.

Wang’s SS11 collection is inspired by his past work at MaxMara, Boudicca and All Saints mixed with his own personal creativity. Hand printed designs are either a combination of deep muted bronze and gold or the lighter mix of pale gold and pearl. His signature fabric of waxed cotton is used for the outerwear. The overall look is soft structured tailoring.

Anna Paola’s beachwear label Paolita. Born in the USA and raised in Greece, Anna studied fashion design at the Instituto Marangoni in Milan. For SS11 Anna has two collections: Voyage and Floreana.

Voyage is inspired by the explorers of the past and shows swimwear in nautical stripes. The stripes are of faded red, fern and blue with a few tiny ruffles here and there to give a vintage undertone. This collection is definitely for the woman who is not afraid to show off her body as even the one piece suits show a lot of middle with their cut away designs.

Floreana is inspired by the Galapagos Islands combining exotic and colourful ethnic prints in modern bright neon colours of fern, yellow, red and blue. Here we see a patchwork of patterns and colours together giving a carnival feel. This collection has a more varied choice for different body shapes: The Odalisque one piece is of a burlesque style with girlie frills at the top of the legs, the Sonnet one piece is more Hollywood glam with its halter neck cord tie, the Minikini is girlie with its little frilled skirt and the Shorti bikini is boyish with its mini short style bottoms.

Designer couple Israel and Pierre Imarni showed their fashion label Isy & Peeps – so called after their nicknames. The age market is 18-25 year old so the pieces are fun and flirty. The collection is a series of capsule items each based around a key trend for the season, but designed in colour and style so that they can be mixed together.

The first theme is ‘Tomorrow’s World’. Digital prints of birds in flight grace chiffon dresses and tunics.

The second is ‘Postcards from the Country’ where a city girl is on a walk through rural America on a hot summer’s afternoon. Here are prints of free running horses on sandy coloured chiffon mini dresses and blouses, juxtaposing femininity with the rugged prairie.

The third is ‘Script’ where everything is black and white, especially love.  Here we see ‘Isy & Peeps’ printed in black script all over white chiffon dresses and tunics.  Knitted maxis, tunics and capes are adorned with love hearts, love birds, ‘Love till the end’ and Isy & Peeps’ initials. Colours are white on black, black on white and some with a splash of red.

Hardcastle, a mid to high end ready to wear label which combines the relaxed Australian easy to wear attitude with the quality of European tailoring. The collection is called ‘As the Llamera Girl dances…’ and Louise Hardcastle took her inspiration from the colourful Quechuan women of Peru. She combines femininity with a touch of masculinity by mixing fabrics of suede, silk, chiffon, wool crepe and leather together. Colours are bright acid oranges, blues, pinks and reds. The neon pink dress combines an empire line band of suede on a wool crepe shirt covered with a layer of silk chiffon. A tan leather mini skirt is layered with wide suede looped bands. The digital print used is an aerial shot of Peru.

Tips in Buying European Lingerie

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011
ruffle blouse

Every woman aspires to have an hourglass body shape. Hourglass is the perfect body shape for women. An hourglass body has full-size breasts, wide hips, and thin waistline. When you have an hourglass body, you can wear anything you like. Tight jeans, fitted blouses, plunging necklines, sexy dresses – name it, you can wear it. Above all, you can dress well with plain European lingerie. Your body carries lingerie pieces perfectly and gracefully.

European lingerie pieces are one of the classes of lingerie underwear.  They have sophisticated designs, and they are made up of different kinds of fabric. Some European lingerie are made up of cotton, nylon, and polyester fabric. Most pieces have lace fabric, which is used as a primary lingerie material. Likewise, it is also used as an adornment for brassieres and panties, often sewn on the lines and contours of lingerie pieces.

Lingerie pieces are perfect for hourglass women. They can easily complement the women’s breast and body contour. However, they can also be worn by women with other body shapes. Brassieres and panties come in different sizes, shapes, designs, and styles. There are lingerie pieces for petite, plus-size, and average-size women.

Are you planning to buy lingerie? Here are some hints in buying perfectly fitting lingerie.

If you have small breasts, opt for brassieres with padded cups and embellished straps. Padded cups make your breasts appear fuller and bigger. Embellished straps widen your shoulder and upper body. Look for European lingerie pieces with bold styles and designs. There are brassieres with ruffles and designs on bra cups. Bold styles add volume to your upper body.

If you have big breasts, opt for dark-colored European lingerie pieces, such as those in shades of black, blue, and red. Dark colors minimize the volume of your breast. They create a proportionate impression of your body shape. Dark-colored lingerie pieces accentuate your breast and waist. Aside from this, look for brassieres with good cup support. This is practical for women with D-cup size. Their breasts will not look too heavy and big.

If you have wide hips and waist, avoid European lingerie with flashy styles and designs. They highlight the volume of your hips and thighs. Instead, you can use shapewear lingerie to normalize the appearance of body shape.

Tips on How to Dress Perfectly for Your Body Type

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

Movie stars and celebrities look gorgeous in almost anything they wear because they have stylists that help them dress according to their body shapes. These celebrity stylists are paid big bucks to make sure that the assets of their Hollywood A-lister clients are magnified or emphasized, while their flaws are completely hidden from the prying eyes of the madding crowd.

You can actually look good and beautiful like the people you idolize on TV and the movies if you just learn to accept your body type, embrace your flaws and know your assets. Here are some tips that will help you determine which type of shirts, pants and dresses will enhance what you already have and hide your not-so-flattering flab.

If You Have Straight Hips

Layering is one of the things you can do to give an illusion of fullness and curve. You can try wearing a dress over your pants, especially if you have long legs. If the weather is cold, go ahead and add a sweater. Do not be afraid to bulk up because this is precisely what you need to avoid looking so straight and wafer thin.

Skinny jeans will emphasize your thin legs, but make sure that you choose a pair that has a lighter wash. Dark colored jeans will make your legs look thinner and assert your hips. If you are a person who loves to wear skirts, it is advisable for you to choose one that has a straight cut. Jumpers can also help draw attention to your slim shape.

If You Have Curvy Hips

Do not curse your hips for being wide and curvy. Although you may not look like a skinny model, there are more guys who want to see some fat on your butt and hips. What you can do to emphasize your to-die-for feminine physique is wear a shirt or blouse that clinches or wraps up your middle.

Bright colored bubble or tiered skirt can also do wonders for your shapely hips. The ruffles and the bright colors will surely help draw attention to your assets. Another trick to accentuate your hourglass shape is wearing a wide belt (the wider the better) so as to emphasize the difference between your waist and hips.

If You Have Full Breasts

Thank the heavens if you have the gift of full breasts that women naturally long for. Since you have been given these wonderful assets, it would be a shame if you do not flaunt them. Emphasize your full breasts without necessarily looking like a tramp. You can do it by finding a top or blouse that has some ruches or designs near the bust.

You do not have to show flesh to make men ogle. What you actually need is a simple top dress that has a fitted bodice. This is enough to show off your curves and shape.

An important thing that women with full bust should remember is to wear a supportive bra. If your bra is not providing proper support and is too small for you, you will feel uncomfortable and your assets will become liabilities. To have cleavage and really perky-looking breasts, find a bra that has big back straps and full cups.

If You Have Small Breasts

Having small breasts is not really something to complain about. There are a lot of things you can do to enhance your small bust. First, you can wear loose tops and blouses that have interesting and unique necklines. The exceptional designs will be the focal point of your look and not your small chest.

Plunging necklines are also ideal for you. You can show some flesh without looking promiscuous and too exposed. Just look at how gorgeous Debra Messing and Kate Hudson appear in a dress with ultra-low décolletage.

You can also physically enhance your breasts even without breast augmentation surgery. By using lotions and other topical creams that improve the size of your breasts, you have a safer and cheaper option other than going under the knife and having breast implants. One product that you can use to enhance your breasts is Clevastin. Visit http://www.clevastin.com/ for more details about this product.
